Cool Ideas For Groomsmen Gifts

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

As the groom this is probably one of the few things you have to do on your own. That is choosing groomsmen gifts. These guys are your close friends and family who came to stand with you on your wedding day. On top of that they are the guys that threw you a killer bachelor’s party. So how do you thank them? Give them great gifts that don’t suck. Seriously do not even think that you can get away with giving them whatever your bride is giving her friends or relatives. If they don’t laugh you out the room, the sheer embarrassment you will feel from seeing their reactions will be enough. So here four great tips and ideas to help you find cool gifts that your groomsmen will appreciate and actually keep.

First off, do not go with the wedding favors that you will give at the reception. This is suicide. It is almost as bad trying to give whatever your bride is giving her friends. These are your close friends and family. So put some effort into it. These gifts are meant to show how much these guys mean to you. If only do this with complacency your gift is definitely going to bomb. A great place to start is with what they like. You have known these guys for a good while so you must have an idea from birthdays or just conversations that you have had what they want to receive for a gift.

The next thing is don’t’ be stingy. This is once again not like wedding favors where you can afford to be cheap because you have over a hundred guests. Even then you will be cutting close if you don’t put effort in that area. Trust me your bride will tell you the same thing if you ask her. Now especially if it is an especially small group, you better ante up the cash for something nice. You don’t have to break the bank, just give gifts that don’t look like you got them on the sales rack in front of the cashier at the convenience store. If you put some money towards a decent gift it will be obvious and your groomsmen will appreciate it

Now a great gift idea is electronic gadgets. Do you remember seeing a display at JCPenny or Marshall’s with a display of semi useful and intriguing items? That is a good place to start. As you well know these gadgets are fall under the category of guy’s toys. They are semi useful and just fun because of how novel they are. For example my Dad found these really cool self heating mugs that you could plug into your car lighter. Think along these lines. Something novel and useful will definitely be a hit.

Another great suggestion is sports accessories. This one is a fine line. You have to find something that you know your buddies were looking for that they knew would be useful. A great example is golf. There are a lot of accessories that your friends wish that they had with them on the course to help their game go easier. Sports gifts are popular because the fall once again under the categories of fun and useful. Just make sure that you get the maximum value for your purchases.
